Your studies in Nursing Science at the KH Freiburg - everything you need to know
In 9 semesters you can complete your Bachelor of Applied Nursing Sciences at the KH Freiburg. This gives you a double qualification, a degree in a nursing profession and the academic degree Bachelor of Arts” academic degree.
Our lecturers will teach you the latest theories and findings in the nursing sciences. With the best knowledge from nursing, advanced skills in treatment, needs-oriented management of processes, professional communication and reflective learning processes, you'll be optimally equipped to care for people with care needs.
Thanks to the cooperation with training institutions in the care sector, small learning groups and optimal structuring, theory and practice flow smoothly into one another. This program allows a very good compatibility of studies and career. In addition to innovative nursing concepts, you will also gain an excellent insight into nursing science research.
Shortened study time

Academic requirements
Specific requirements for this study program include – in addition to the higher education entrance qualification (Abitur / Fachhochschulreife) – a training contract with a cooperating institution of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg in the area of (Pediatric) Nursing or Geriatric Nursing. Therefore, applicants should apply to our partner institutions first. Only after you have been offered a place at one of our partner institutions can you apply for a place in the bachelor program of Nursing. All queries relating to vocational training should be addressed to our partner institutions.

Course of study I
In the first stage of your studies (1st - 6th semester), you will complete vocational training as a nursing specialist in parallel to your (part-time) studies at the university.
The second part of the course (7th - 9th semester) is completed in block phases exclusively at the university.
If you are interested in finding out which nursing training institutions are already cooperating with us or if you have any questions, please contact the Health Practice Department (praxis.gesundheit@kh-freiburg.de).
You can also start your studies if you (want to) complete your training at an institution that does not yet cooperate with the KH Freiburg. In this case, please contact the head of degree program or the student advisory service.
Course of study II
After completing 3 years of training in nursing ), you will complete a 5-semester course of study in block phases.
Following graduation, you will be able to work in hospitals, the ambulance nursing services, institutions for the care of the elderly, counselling or any other health care institution in Germany or abroad. Furthermore, graduates of the B.A. program may choose to advance their academic qualifications with a master’s program, for example specializing in advanced nursing practice.
