Applied nursing science

Course Description

The program prepares graduates methodologically, personally, and socially to excel in fostering the health and well-being of individuals, families etc. The aim of the study program is to train nurses in theory-driven decision-making and to enable them to carry out independent and scientifically informed research for the promotion of health, the prevention of diseases, nursing, and rehabilitation of patients.

Following graduation, you will be able to work in hospitals, the ambulance nursing services, institutions for the care of the elderly, counselling or any other health care institution in Germany or abroad. Furthermore, graduates of the B.A. program may choose to advance their academic qualifications with a master’s program, for example specializing in advanced nursing practice.

The study program features the following study areas:

  • Evidence-based nursing: Independent research and application of current research
  • Diagnosis and treatment
  • Assessment and evaluation of patients’ (pre- and post- treatment) needs 
  • Specialization in geriatric care including the social and political concerns regarding the care of the elderly
  • Management skills including: the coordination of patient-centered care
